I spent most of Saturday night paging through Emily Evans Eerdmans’ new book, “The World of Madeleine Castaing.” Dear readers, I am now obsessed with this incredibly inventive 20th century decorator! The book is set to release on October 26, but for those of you who are like me and hate to wait, there are plenty of ways to get your Madeleine Castaing fix now. First, I’d recommend checking out this fascinating article RE: Ms. Castaing written by New York interior designer David Netto for the Wall Street Journal. Then, I’d (strongly) suggest browsing through the online catalog of Sotheby’s 2004 Madeleine Castaing auction. I’m rather devastated that her home is not in tact anymore as I would have loved to visit it... looking on the bright side, I guess now we can view her possessions from the comfort of our own homes! One of my favorite pieces that was auctioned off are the quirky copper tiebacks in the shape of a woman's arm. Don’t they remind you of the curtain tiebacks Hervé Pierre has in his home? Ahh, I just can’t wait to talk more about the book-- I think we can all learn a little from Madeleine!
