happy valentine's day!

When I was little, my mom would send Valentine’s Day cards to friends and family instead of Christmas cards. I laughed out loud when I read that Julia Child did the same. In My Life in France, Child said,“Valentine cards had become a tradition of ours, born of the fact that we could never get ourselves organized in time to send out Christmas cards.” With four young children, I think my mom was very much in the same boat! This card was taken in 1998 - I was ten, my brother Jimmy was eight, Sean was six, and Danielle was four. Aren’t those sweatshirts cute (for 1998, that is)? My mom cut the hearts and letters out of felt and glued them on. So sweet :)

PS - the watercolor floral/heart border was painted by yours truly.
I was quite the artist...

Macau trực tuyến Baccaratchez jean cocteau

Above is eccentric artist/poet Jean Cocteau’s Milly-la-Forêt maison. My knowledge of Mr. Cocteau is limited (I do know that the man liked to hold professional meetings in his bedroom, where he would lay in bed and smoke opium...), but I would love to find out more. His home, which opened to the public this summer, houses original sketches by Proust and Picasso in addition to portraits by Warhol and Man Ray. Cocteau insisted that Madeleine Castaing decorate his home, hence the bold leopard wallpaper (which I think is divine!). Katie and Jane don’t know it yet, but I think a Matchbook field trip to Milly-la-Forêt is in order :)

(P.S. - did you know that Jean Cocteau is one of Miles Redd's favorite artists?)

Macau trực tuyến Baccaratasprey's alligator scarf belts

I think Asprey’s alligator scarf belts are the utmost peak of chic. I am a longtime fan of the company's silk scarves - I actually included one in my most recent editor’s wishlist. And to wear one around your waist?! Divine. Don’t you think this is something that Grace Kelly would have worn?

1964:
Pan Am Yankee Clipper flight 101 from London Heathrow arrives at New York's JFK Airport,
marking the Beatles' first visit to the United States. The band was greeted by more than
3,000 screaming fans as they stepped off the plane.
