pan am!

After the wild success of AMC’s “Mad Men,” a slew of television shows set in the early ‘60s will be premiering this fall. I’m most excited for ABC’s “Pam Am,” launching on September 25. The show promises a great wardrobe (if nothing else!). For a girl who l-o-v-e-s retro clothing, I couldn’t be more excited. What are your thoughts on “Pan Am” and the early ‘60s TV trend? Although it’s a fad, I hope it’s long-lasting... I just adore this era :)

the darling kiernan shipka

Kiernan Shipka, best known for her role as little Sally Draper on AMC’s “Mad Men,” recently opened her (parent’s) Los Angeles home to the editors of Macau trực tuyến BaccaratThe Coveture for une petite editorial - it’s darling. Ms. Kiernan, the proud new face of Papo D’Anjo, has me aching to wear silk taffeta frocks complete with Peter Pan collars. See that salmon dress in the last photo? She designed it. I’m not sure what this girl can’t do. Oh, to be 11 years old again!

Macau trực tuyến BaccaratMad Men at the FIDM Museum + Galleries

The other night, my boyfriend informed me that several of the costumes from Mad Men are on display at the FIDM Museum + Galleries' The Art of Television Costume Design exhibit. I was elated until I discovered that the exhibit closes on September 4—I will have just missed it! I’m flying to LA for a week on the 10th. Fortunately, I was able to dig up a few photos of the exhibit so those of us who can’t visit can get a peak. Janie Bryant, the show’s costume designer, is ingenious!

mad for vuitton.

I gasped when I saw these images from Louis Vuitton’s fall 2010 ad campaign. Aren’t they gorgeous? I love that Mad Men has brought late ‘50s and early ‘60s glamour back in vogue again. I think one of my favorite elements of this ad (and of Mad Men, for that matter) are the gloves. Often times, I think I was born in the wrong decade. I’d love nothing more than to pair my a-line skirts and beaded cashmere cardigans with a pair of  cream kid leather gloves and pearls.. but alas, I can’t do so without appearing over-the-top! On a slightly different note, this ad makes me long for a dressing room. Or at the very least, a large bathroom complete with an oversized mirrored vanity. Never hurts to dream big, right?

beyoncé's "why don't you love me"

"Why Don't You Love Me" - Beyoncé from Beyoncé on Vimeo.

Now that it’s finally summer, it seems like everyone is once again thinking about Mad Men— and Beyonce Knowles is no different. In her newest video, “Why don’t you love me,” Bey channels the early 1960s housewife (and has never looked better). Have you seen it? She spends most of the video twirling about in retro-couture Dolce & Gabbana lingerie + satin pumps. Oh, and she also takes a moment to dust her grammys with a feather duster.. amazing. It was written by Solange + directed by Melina Matsoukas (a woman famous for giving her videos a retro-feel). I really hope to see this pair work together again-- just think of the possibilities!
