"Near the end of his life, Henri Matisse's preferred attire was evening wear,
by which I mean pajamas."

on this day in history...

Henri Matisse's "Le Bateau" went on display at New York's Museum of Modern Art.
It was discovered 46 days later that the painting had been hung upside down.

Kate Spade’s Autumn/Winter 2002 ad campaign, titled “Visiting Tennessee”, tells the story of an East Coast family visiting their oldest daughter in New York City. Shot by the legendary Larry Sultan, these rich photographs do not simply convey a narrative—they convey a lifestyle. We all know how much I love Kate Spade, but I feel like the company’s Autumn/Winter 2010 ad campaign is simply not as charming as it could have been. I miss the days when the Kate Spade ads could pass as art! The above images were actually featured in a 2004 exhibit at the MoMa titled, “Fashioning Fiction in Photography since 1990.” I have my suspicions that Kate Spade wanted to keep the fall advertisements simple as to not take away from their big fragrance launch. I bet their Holiday campaign will be gorgeous :)
